A Love for Muscadelle
After a long program of replanting and improvements, our estate, true to the historical character of Monbazillac, boasts a high proportion of Muscadelle (43%), complemented by Sémillon (48%), a touch of Sauvignon Blanc (7%), and Chenin Blanc (3%). The Sémillon, which contributes richness, elegance, and opulence, is perfectly complemented by the aromatic profile of the Muscadelle, while the fruitiness of the Sauvignon Blanc and the freshness of the Chenin Blanc provide a counterpoint. Muscadelle, our beloved and cherished grape variety, gives our wines their deep, spicy, and fruity aromas. Our estate undoubtedly has the highest proportion of Muscadelle in France. Indeed, this temperamental grape, susceptible to many diseases, requires demanding viticulture and only produces quality at low yields. But its refinement and the balance of its wines delight us.
